Weekend

I will wipe your brow, take away the ugly of the weekend
I will speak in love, try to heal the harm I made
You will talk of death, the dying of the dream you dreamed
I will hold your hand, until you are not afraid
But if you make a fool of me, you best believe I'll come back swinging
Cause you bring out the worst in me, but I'm still best when we are singing the same song
If you're ever false to me, your noiselessness sounds as a roar
If I roar and carry on, know that I want the quiet more
Cause we're too old for such empty threats, far too young for such regret
So let's link arms and face the day, the good, the ugly and the bad
But if you make a fool of me, you best believe I'll come back swinging
Cause you bring out the worst in me, but I'm still best when we are singing the same song

You were always on my mind
Were simply just a matter of time
An abstract face and place
First conceived when I was just babe
So you are the albatross
Came down in the caul of love
Derived from Prometheus
A sailor with a swallow tattoo
Many miles brought you here to us
You and your giant love
Reminding us what we're meant to do
Impatient to succeed
A thought a gesture, a softly planted seed
A moment in the night
With the temperature blood warm and right
So you are the albatross
Came down in the caul of love
Derived from Prometheus
A sailor with a swallow tattoo
Many miles brought you here to us
You and your giant love
Reminding us what we're meant to do

If you have to go, love, go
If you have to go, then, go love
You don't need to stay, for, anyone
If you have to go, love, go
And I will find you
In the spaces
In all the black notes
Unknown faces
I will find you
In the stillness
In all the traces
In all the places we won't go
So if you have to go, love, go
If you have to go, love, go

I have a friend, she has a porcelain bird
It's white with it's wings out stretched
And she says it gives her hope
But the words stick in her throat
Say's it gives her hope, she says
I have a friend she likes collecting hearts
She pins them to a board above her bed
She says it reaffirms her faith
Just to keep them all in place
Reaffirms her faith she says
And I know that she is frightened but she's brave enough to say it
A fact that makes her fearless in my eyes
And I don't know where she's going but I know that she knows
And I hope that when she gets there he says

Eyreton Hall Auckland, New Zealand
Andrew Keegan and Toni Randle are the alt folk duo, Eyreton Hall.
From different parts of the antipodes,
Toni, born in Christchurch and Andy in Sydney. Toni had a misspent youth filled with dancing, singing and piano lessons. Andy played big band drums and busked every weekend.
Their worlds collided at the Sydney Conservatorium where both were studying that lesser-known folk sub genre – jazz.
