about

Optimistic alt folk romp

lyrics

BELLBIRD T Randle
As I went walking out one day
I left my true love by the way side
And I heard the bellbird sing

The mountains told me secrets to keep
But I walked on with bound and broken feet
And I heard the bellbird sing

The orchard full of misspent years
The grass is long but seldom are the branches bare
Heavy with a harvest of misspent years

The olive trees swing in the breeze,
But gold and silver were stolen by frosty thieves
And I heard the bellbird sing

But do you remember how we wed, underneath the branches green?
Do you remember what you said, underneath the branches green?
I wore a dress a shade of red, underneath the branches green

The old man works his years away
She waits at home, for the day that he’ll say,
“I’m coming home to stay”

She works her fingers to the bone
For this is her kingdom and her throne
For they heard the bellbird sing

My babies sleep with porcelain skin
With cheeks that glow like crab apple trees in July
And I heard the bellbird sing

And do you remember how we wed, underneath the branches green?
Do you remember what you said, underneath the branches green?
I wore a dress a shade of red, underneath the branches green

And I was lost, now I’m found, for I heard the bellbird,
Sing

Their worlds collided at the Sydney Conservatorium where both were studying that lesser-known folk sub genre – jazz.
